BARREL 33". CALIBER .577 PERCUSSION "The Enfield 1853 rifle-musket was also used by both the North and the South in the American Civil War, and was the second most widely used infantry weapon in the war, surpassed only by the Springfield Model 1861Rifled Musket. The Confederates imported more Enfields during the course of the war than any other small arm, buying from private contractors and gun runners. This example is dated 1862, prime Civil War era. Lock has the VR George Rex with Crown. Barrel has typical British proofs. All the furniture is iron. Bands are plated. Stock is full length walnut.

Metal is rich brown patina. Stock has usual war bumps and bruises. Legends are all sharp. Missing front trigger guard screw. Includes period ramrod. Nice clean but used example of Civil War confederate weapon.
